PARMMS® Road Network Inspector

The identification and classification of asset items and pavement faults within the road reserve has always been a challenge in pavement and road management. The correct location, identification and classification of road reserve properties will save time and money to the pavement manager. The goal of the PARMMS® Network Inspector is to optimise this process. The PARMMS® Road Network Inspector is a completely automated process.

Pavement & Asset Condition Monitoring

Road Network Inspector can be used to develop the initial condition of a road network simply as driving along a roadway and locating the asset by description and classification and selecting it from a prepared list. The location of the item is fixed by the accurate distance from a “control point” or by the GPS unit.

Once the Initial Survey has established the Location, Description and Classification of all Items (including Distress Items on the Pavement) the Road Network Inspector Screen will look like the following. It can be seen that this screen allows the Road Inspector to:-

Updating Assets and Faults

Should a new asset or fault appear during the survey the addition of such item is as simple as pausing at the location, and using the “Pull Down Menu “ or the “Short Cut Keys” add the item to the database. The distance from the control point as measured by the Brantz or the GPS location will be automatically added to the inserted data.

During an inspection the condition of an existing asset may have changed. In order to maintain the integrity of the database it is necessary to amend the existing database. This is as simple as pausing the vehicle, “double clicking” with the “mouse button” and using the “pull down screen” to select the new condition.

Road Network Inspector can be transmitted by Satellite phone, WAP or can be downloaded each night from computer to computer directly to the Road Manager database, enabling an immediate update of the asset condition.
