A Way Forward: A Call to Action

I believe this industry is still too fragmented. Many people have many good ideas in different places. There has been some consolidation around software, but the actual art, science, and engineering that are the true levers of our industry remain largely in the hands of smaller players. We have jumped for a computer science-led solution and lost sight of the fundamentals of pavement management. I want to take the best of recent developments and what technology can unlock an engineered solution.

I seek to work with industry professionals to develop a solution based on engineering, incorporating what is possible with visual systems and cloud-based computing. Use these data inputs as just that – inputs but develop a truly industry-leading solution that turns data into knowledge and makes it accessible to the entire globe. Roads are the same throughout the world. A road problem in one country is the same as in another country worldwide. A franchised model with centralised processing and a best-of-breed solution.

My vision is to build a best-of-breed solution that can be globally applied but delivered by people in that marketplace.
